Started in 1964, the history of Alukkas is actually the history of jewellery business in Kerala. The group started jewellery trade when it was not the “in thing” in Kerala. The tiny acorn planted by Sri Varghese Alukka, a humble but highly optimistic trader was nurtured into a mighty oak tree, spreading its branches far and wide by Sri Jose Alukka his eldest son. Dedication, hard work, foresight and a keen interest in customer satisfaction have enabled Alukkas to become the trendsetters in gold trade.

As a group they command a substantial market share in the gold jewellery business in Kerala and the Middle East. Started as a small gold showroom in Trichur, at present the group has 19 jewellery outlets throughout Kerala. The Group has now become a force to reckon with in the jewellery business in Kerala and in the Middle East.

To further expand business and also to give a chance for the next generation to develop their leadership quality and business tactics, the brothers have now separated in business, but continue to use the group name and logo. They have also started expanding their business activities to other states in India.
